Danny Gal was born and raised in the UK, and now lives outside of London. He attended University in Nottingham... yep, the same one from Robin Hood. He LOVES challenges, and not just any challenges - the hard ones. He is done Iron Man competitions, ultra marathons, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, and jumped out of a perfectly good plane, to name a few. He loves doing them once... and then never again. He's got 2 small kids, and believes in work hard, play hard.

Danny has worked in many roles in the past, across enterprises and the like. What he found most difficult was scaling himself. He got to talking with his now co-founder about building something around the idea of scaling oneself, and took it to some businesses to validate it. Once he saw them get excited about it, he figured they were onto something.

This is the creation story of Proteams.

Key Takeaways

  • Self-Serve Freelance Platforms Fail Enterprise: Bidding sites like Upwork fail enterprises because they lack vetting, governance, compliance controls, and workflow integration.
  • Rise of Managed Fractional Teams: Companies are shifting from solo gig workers to pre-assembled, cross-functional teams that deliver end-to-end project accountability.
  • Solving the "Scaling Oneself" Bottleneck: Proteams was born to help leaders scale their impact by delegating complex technical execution to managed external experts.
  • Direct Enterprise Proof Validates Fit: Proteams validated product-market fit by taking managed team concepts straight to procurement leads rather than building a public job board.
  • Modern Procurement Needs Fractional Strategy: Chief Procurement Officers must establish formal strategies to manage external teams, balancing speed with strict IP and security rules.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Proteams, and how does it differ from traditional staffing agencies?

Proteams is a software-enabled platform that delivers managed, cross-functional fractional teams to enterprises. Unlike traditional staffing agencies that place single contractors or transactional marketplaces that offer self-serve gig workers, Proteams manages end-to-end delivery and team integration.

Why do enterprises struggle with managing fractional talent internally?

Enterprise workflows require rigorous security, compliance, IP protection, and consistent quality standards. Individual freelancers often lack the infrastructure to meet these demands, forcing internal managers to spend excessive time on administrative oversight, onboarding, and project management.

What inspired Danny Gal to found Proteams?

With a career spanning major enterprise roles, Danny Gal realized the biggest bottleneck in leadership is "scaling oneself." He recognized that leaders needed a reliable way to deploy expert software teams on demand without suffering the overhead of traditional hiring or agency procurement.

How does Proteams ensure quality across globally distributed engineering teams?

Proteams combines pre-vetted domain experts into structured, pre-assembled team units. The platform enforces standardized delivery frameworks, clear accountability, and managed oversight so that output meets strict enterprise benchmarks.

How do managed fractional teams help enterprise leaders optimize headcount budgets?

Managed fractional teams allow enterprise leaders to scale engineering velocity up or down based on active project demands without adding permanent fixed overhead or risking high-attrition, single-freelancer dependencies.

What personal experiences shape Danny Gal’s approach to high-stakes entrepreneurship?

Danny Gal approaches business challenges with a high-endurance mindset cultivated through extreme physical feats—including competing in Ironman triathlons, running ultra-marathons, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, and skydiving—applying that same grit to enterprise problem-solving.
